Just as every life is unique, so is every funeral. Our goal for funerals at Louisburg United Methodist Church is to celebrate the unique qualities of your loved one with dignity and excellence. We welcome our partnerships with area funeral homes, and feel we work well together. LUMC is easily accessible to the funerals homes if a casket is chosen. Cremation service with the urn present as well as memorial services without the urn are both becoming very common. Either Pastor Brad or Pastor Karla are comfortable officiating services where the loved one or their family chooses any of these options.
When death is imminent, please consider calling Pastor Brad or Karla directly or call the emergency phone number (913-837-2374) to make them aware of the situation. Either or both Pastors would be honored to have the opportunity to come and pray with the person at the end of life and the family – reading familiar Scriptures and anointing with oil. Again, either or both Pastors would come to the bedside once death has occurred for final prayers and to comfort the family in this initial moment of grief.
Typically, the initial meeting is with the funeral home unless direct cremation has been chosen. If you entrust the honor of doing the service to one or both of our Pastors, please make sure we are in the loop on discussions of service date and time, especially if the service is to be at the church. Serving families in this time is of utmost importance, and we will rearrange schedules to the best of our abilities to meet the needs of the family. Our Pastors are also available to officiate services at the funeral home, graveside or mausoleum.
Once a date and time has been established, please call and make an appointment to meet with the Pastor(s) to plan the service (913-837-2374). We ask that you allow an hour and a half to two hours for this meeting so we can plan logistics and then plan the order of service. We are highly flexible in the Order of Worship, but request the Word of Grace and perhaps another or two sacred United Methodist elements.
There is no fee for using the church for a funeral. There are suggested honorariums for the sound/video tech of $75.00 and $75.00 for the pianist and vocalist. An honorarium for the Pastor is at the discretion of the family.
Again, it is our honor to serve any family in this time, whether associated with Louisburg United Methodist Church or not.
